Criminal activities in port areas is a big challenge in the Netherlands. RTL Z made an interesting report about how Seagull Surveillance makes a big difference. Not by taking over people's work, but by supporting them.
Two cameras, one harbor master
Scheveningen harbor is continuously monitored by two cameras and a harbor master who watches the images. On the basis of these images, the harbor masters with all their knowledge and expertise can determine whether ship traffic may be suspicious. The only problem with this is that it also requires the harbor master to continuously review and assess the camera images. Virtually impossible, as there are always other tasks that may also require the attention of harbor masters.
Now see how an AI colleague offers a solution
With Seagull Surveillance, harbor masters gain an AI colleague. Seagull monitors all images from the cameras and records what type of vessels are entering and leaving the port at any given time. The harbor master can then determine if this could be suspicious, or not.
